The twelve dimensions at a glance

Raised: usable with live data on SKN3X. Flat: guiding questions only.

With live data on SKN3X: 6Guiding questions only, no live data: 6
  1. 01

    Market

Which market does the entity serve, how large is it, and what are the alternatives?

    • Which market segment (DEX, lending, stablecoin, staking, RWA)?
    • What share of that segment, measured by what?
    • Which chains is the entity present on?

Limit: Share by TVL is not share by revenue or users — the same entity can rank differently in each of the three.

  2. 02

    Business Model

What is the entity paid for, and by whom?

    • What service is provided — trading, credit, custody, issuance?
    • Who pays the fee, and where does it go?
    • Would the revenue persist without token incentives?

Limit: The split describes the current state, not the intent: an emission can end tomorrow with nothing in today's figures announcing it.

  3. 03

    Technology

What infrastructure does the entity run on, and what does it inherit from it?

    • Layer 1 or layer 2, and with what finality?
    • Which bridges are involved?
    • Which parts are off-chain?

Limit: The same brand on two chains is technically two deployments with different risk, even where the interface shows one number.

  4. 04

    Smart Contracts

Who can change the code, how fast, and with what warning?

    • Are the contracts upgradeable (proxy)?
    • What admin rights exist, and with whom?
    • Is there a timelock before changes take effect?

Limit: A missing field is not “no admin key” — it is an open question and must be recorded as one.

  5. 05

    Tokenomics

How does supply arise, who holds it, and does the token capture value?

    • Circulating vs. maximum supply?
    • Which unlocks are upcoming?
    • Does any mechanism connect the token to protocol revenue?

Limit: Vesting and unlock calendars are not in this platform's data; they must be evidenced from protocol documentation.

  6. 06

    Liquidity

Can the position be exited at the intended size?

    • How deep is the market relative to the intended position?
    • How concentrated is liquidity in a few addresses?
    • What happens to liquidity when incentives end?

Limit: TVL is deposited capital, not tradable depth. A high-TVL pool can still show substantial price impact on a large order.

  7. 07

    Economics

Is the yield explainable from the mechanics — and under which assumptions does it hold?

    • Where does the yield come from: fees, interest, emissions, leverage?
    • Which assumption must hold for it to persist?
    • How does the yield behave if utilization falls?

Limit: A high APY is a signal of risk, not a measure of it; a low APY is not proof of safety.

  8. 08

    Governance

Who decides, at what quorum, and how concentrated is voting power?

    • How many addresses suffice for a majority?
    • Do emergency powers exist, and who exercises them?
    • How long is the path from proposal to effect?

Limit: A formally decentralized process can be decided in practice by a handful of addresses; the charter says nothing about that.

  9. 09

    Security

What is evidenced about the security posture — and what is merely not known?

    • Which audits exist, by whom, for which code version?
    • Were there documented incidents, and how were they handled?
    • How long has the code run unchanged in production?

Limit: An audit evidences a review of one code version at one point in time. It is not proof of safety and does not extend to later upgrades.

  10. 10

    Dependencies

What does the entity depend on without saying so on its own surface?

    • Which stablecoin, which oracle, which bridge?
    • Which of these dependencies are shared across several positions?
    • What happens if the weakest link fails?

Limit: The chain shown is as complete as the underlying mapping — an unlisted dependency is not the same as none.

  11. 11

    Regulation

Which activity, which entity, which jurisdiction, which framework — and what stays open?

    • Which activity is actually being performed?
    • Is there an identifiable regulated entity?
    • Which framework would be in scope in the relevant jurisdiction?

Limit: “DeFi is regulated” or “unregulated” is not an answerable question. Only the chain activity → entity → jurisdiction → framework is answerable, and even that only with its uncertainty stated.

  12. 12

    Institutional Impact

What follows from the preceding eleven dimensions for one's own organization?

    • Which of the eleven dimensions is the binding constraint?
    • Which open question would have to be closed first?
    • What would the decision be if it had to be made today — and on what does it rest?

Limit: A synthesis must not make the underlying uncertainty disappear. A single overall grade with the individual findings hidden would be exactly that mistake.
